DOSARAF INTRODUCES OVEN DRIED CATFISH INTO NIGERIA MARKET
Dosaraf Multtibiz Koncep as launched their first food product kwon as Dosaraf Oven Dried Catfish. According to Mr Aderonmu, the Chief Executive Officer said that the product was launched to take advantage of the market opportunities in bridging the gap that exist in providing good, affordable food product. It is known that fish is an important and main food material of Nigerian. The continued growth of population, income and urbanization assures the high demand for fishes in Nigeria. Nigeria has a large market for smoked catfish, with a population of over 165 million people and an estimated national population growth rate of 5.7% per annum, an average economic growth rate of 3.5% per annum in the past five (5) years, it’s consumption cuts across every strata of the society both the rich and poor, coupled with the health benefits of the product as a source of omega-3 fatty acids that as continually played an important role in the prevention of heart disease and type 2 diabetes.
The product that is well packaged is Free of preservatives, Tasty, Ready to eat, Free of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbon (PAH) and has a Six (6) months shelf life. Speaking on target market, the product will be sold to individuals, hotels, bars and restaurants and other processors, the packaged smoked catfish will be sold to individuals, shops and supermarkets.
With installed production capacity to process 2.4 tonnes of Live catfish monthly, the company engages a unique marketing strategy in the sales of their Packaged Oven Dried Catfish engaging wholesale distributorship across the country and empowering youths their distribution channel. Speaking on exportation of the Dried Catfish Mr Aderonmu said they are looking at the export opportunity in the nearest future as they target the local market while improving on the product on a daily basis.
